Courchevel Le Praz 2

Courchevel le Praz

Le Praz’s alleyways and winter decorations give you a cute alpine feel, very different to the higher Courchevel villages.

The Olympic ski jump backdrop plus quick links to 1850 and La Tania makes it a perfect base for weekend breaks, affordable accommodation and seasonaire life.

Everything is on offer in this ski village mixing tradition and modern life quite perfectly. Quiet apres-ski spots are on offer with hotels and local bars close to the slopes for a warming vin chaud.

Meander the streets in the evening to find a spot suiting all personalities. Fine dining and Michelin star restaurants sit among the timber and stone buildings. Find a sports bar to watch the game or live music venues open until late. Take a stroll around the frozen lake and, if you’re lucky, catch one of the famous fireworks displays.

Ski rental shops are located in the heart of the village, away from the main road. Grab high-quality equipment at fantastic value or even have it delivered directly to your chalet.

The free bus service to La Tania, 1550, 1650 and 1850 opens up more to explore late into the evening.

The Ski Area

The modern high-speed gondola delivers you into the middle Courchevel 1850 providing access to the wider ski si area. A high-speed chairlift also serves you straight into the La Tania slopes and quick links to the Meribel valley if you have a Three Valleys ski pass.

The ski down to Le Praz is a pleasure, with the popular redeveloped black run Jockeys and red run Murettes snaking their way peacefully through the trees. You could try starting your final run from the summit of Saulire if you really want to earn that beer, with an ear-popping 1400 metre descent.

A larger selection of international ski schools is accessible in Courchevel 1850. Don’t worry you can jump on the gondola from 8.45am to meet for ski school (no skiing required.)

Courchevel’s north-facing slopes provide ideal conditions for all abilities with wide open nursery slopes, mellow intermediate blue and red runs, and links to explore all 600km of The Three Valleys.

Le Praz is a lovely option giving you the feeling of a quaint quiet alpine village with access to the best skiing in the world. Enjoy all that Courchevel offers while avoiding the crowds (and posers) you're likely to find at high altitude villages.
